  • Mathnasium centre to open in Dubai (AME Info)

    A learning centre teaching only mathematics in after-school educational programmes is set to open in Dubai. The institution will follow the Mathnasium method, which uses a unique combination of mental, verbal, visual and written techniques to help children understand math.

  • Cambodian court sets date for first Khmer Rouge trial (The Nation - Thailand's English news)

  • John R. Stallings, Jr, partly solved math puzzle, dies (San Jose Mercury News)

    John R. Stallings Jr., who found a proof for part of the Poincare Conjecture, one of the longest-standing problems in mathematics, died Nov. 24 at his home in Berkeley. He was 73. The cause of death was prostate cancer, reported the University of California-Berkeley, where Mr. Stallings had been a member of the faculty since 1967. His death was not announced by the university until Jan. 12.
