    The University of Iowa mathematics department had received a national award for efforts to recruit and retain minority students. The department won the 2008 American Mathematical Society Award for an Exemplary Program or Achievement in a Mathematics Department, the U of I announced today.

  • Lenoir-Rhyne receives large estate gift (1:15 p.m.) (Hickory Daily Record)

    HICKORY-Lenoir-Rhyne received $2.5 million as an estate gift from Donald and Helen Schort. The gift will be used for computing sciences and mathematics. It is one of the largest gifts the school has received, and also one of the largest in support of that field in the U.S. for a school the size of Lenoir-Rhyne.
